Course Description
Wildfires, flooding, and other emergency situations have a major impact on community members’ physical, mental, spiritual, and financial well-being, and on a Nation’s sovereignty and cultural integrity. This course is designed specifically to help Indigenous emergency managers plan the design of their emergency management program while respecting their rights to tailor it for their culture.

Morning Breaks: 9:30am – 9:45am
Lunch Breaks: 12:00pm – 1:00pm
Afternoon Breaks: 2:30pm – 2:45pm

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Define and apply core emergency management program components to their design.
Develop a comprehensive, community‑focused emergency program design.
Leverage local knowledge, cultural traditions, and Indigenous practices to shape the program.
Identify and engage key partners to foster sustained collaboration.
Identify timeline and steps to complete the implementation of a program.

Attendance: Participants must attend a minimum of 90% of instructional time.
